Loda, IL is probably one of the best kept secrets in the Mid-West. This pleasant little village has a population of about 450. Loda is located just off of Interstate 57, completely surrounded by corn and soybean fields. However, to actually drive into Loda, you must use either the Buckley or Paxton exit from Interstate 57 and then travel about 5 miles to Loda on Highway 45.

At one point in time, Loda actually had a population of almost 1200 citizens. Some would say that Adam Smith was the father of the Village. However, after Mr. Smith determined that Loda was not going to payoff financially, he moved on. Addison Goodell purchased the Adam Smith home in 1872. He and his sons tend to receive alot of credit for Loda's longevity.

With a gasoline station in town, a grocery store only 5 minutes away along with neighboring medical care, building supplies, beauty salon... and more, Loda is near the top of the list of the most ideal peaceful living which most people can only dream about!
